There are places that exist only when they are needed. This series emerges from sites of retreat once used for concealment, pause, and self-preservation. It considers hiding as an instinctive response to vulnerability, and as a temporary territory where the self can remain unobserved long enough to recover.
The work reflects on the unseen structures people create in order to endure: private geographies shaped by caution, memory, and the need for distance. These spaces are neither permanent nor fixed, but momentary shelters formed at the edge of exposure.
What remains hidden is not empty. It gathers tension, thought, and emotional residue. Within withdrawal, another kind of presence takes form, one less concerned with appearance than with survival.
At its core, this collection explores the quiet intelligence of retreat: the capacity to protect what is fragile, to inhabit invisibility without disappearing, and to return changed from the places that once held us.
